Hey man! Good to hear ya.

Yeah, Fitch can sometimes come off a little bit cranky and likes to push buttons sometimes. :) But you gotta respect him. If you read his post, you notice he refers directly to the links you give above: Trevor Wax and Michael Horton among them. And he has some precedent for feeling a little touchy on the issue: some of the "back to the gospel" bloggers are coming from a strong Reformed position and often define the gospel including double-predestination and atonement as *only forensic penal substitution--sorta subtly implying that lots of other gospel-loving protestants really don't get the gospel. Hardly everyone, but it's been a thing.

BUT that's not really a bone I'm trying to pick. :)

Although Scot really does have in mind partly this crowd. I think it's fair to anticipate somewhat critical response at least from some quarters. We're getting back into the "New Perspective on Paul" idea too here, which has Piper and NT Wright writing pretty intense books back and forth. Scot's on the NT Wright side (Jimmy Dunn, actually), so again, sorta fair to anticipate some criticism from the Gospel Coalition.

But Scot isn't an antagonistic writer, and I read the book thinking: boy, this hopefully will continue to be a good conversation anchor.

Have you read it?

Hey Chris!
I've been following your posts on this with interest. I'll be curious to see you continued 'review' as your posts on John Dyer's book were phenomenal.

One note. In your original post you noted that Fitch was wondering why no reviews from TGC. I do think his post title was unfortunate as it was intentionally antagonistic, and I think inappropriate as I don't anticipate such a critical response. I'm not sure why he finds/seeks such antagonism?

Anyway, I wanted to pass on a few links where it was indeed reviewed/referenced there:

http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/justintaylor/2011/10/13/are-you-a-soterian-horton-reviews-mcknight/

The reviews seem to consider the book a good one even if not all are in complete agreement. I look forward to seeing yours or Scot's responses.
